Deadmau5 Kiddo Costume!!!!

I have loved Deadmau5 since this past ACL. He is absolutely incredible. Jonathan's frikin' awesome coworker, Rosalba shared this video with us today. This badass dad made his kid a Deadmau5 costume for Halloween because his kiddo wanted it! The video is awesomeness. Period. Check it out. Share this. Live and love life!

My ALL TIME Favorite People

If you haven't already seen or heard about the "Rapist in Lincoln Park", you need to! This was a real attack where the victim's brother rushed in and saved her. I love the guy, Antoine Dodson for all he did and for the video afterwards. He saved his sister's life and then threatened the attacker on the news video; while a very serious topic, the footage of his interview is awesomely hilarious. Rock on, Antoine, rock on!

He is AWESOME and I LOVE him. I also can't get enough of the dudes that made the follow up remix version as a song; Auto-Tune the News made the song and video and it is AMAZING. The profits go to both Antoine Dodson and Auto-Tune the News, so check them out! They are an absolutely amazing compilation. The videos are shown below. I HIGHLY recommend watching the first one first; it is the original news footage from the attack. Watch it first so you can see the awesomeness that is the actual footage and will then truly understand the awesomeness that is the remix version.

Run Over by a Truck: ACL After Effects

This song is an excellent representation of how Jon and I feel after 2 days of ACL awesomeness. Weezer says it perfectly and took the words right out of my mouth! Hehe. We got to see some of my ALL TIME favorite bands and I have to say, we experienced 2 days of pure joy. More to come on ACL soon! Pictures and details of our most favorite weekend ever! Not only did we get to experience the best ACL lineup (in our opinion) but it was our Anniversary weekend! One year as husband and wife! We had a beautiful weekend and it is one we will never forget! =)

Gearing up for Awesomeness

That's right... the summer months are here and that can only mean one thing... well, two or three things actually.

1) Schlitterbahn!!!

We missed it last year due to some unfortunate and absolutely ridiculous (on our part) circumstances. We waited until the last weekend, got all ready, drove all the way there, walked up to the entrance... and realized we didn't bring the actual tickets. Yep... we brought the top part and not the tickets; we had to give it up. The dream of Schlitterbahn water and rides was crushed then and there. There was no way to get the tickets and actually make it to the park and they were closed the next weekend (although we didn't know this at the time). Boo hoo. =(

2) Warm-up for ACL!!!

We also missed ACL last year (bummer , I know) because we were preparing for the wedding and it was the weekend before. =) It was raining and from what we heard, it was absolutely miserable. Whew. We got our money back (sold the tickets on Craig's List), had the time to prepare for the best day of my life, and stayed dry and non-muddy in the process. =) However, we really missed it and are SUPER THRILLED about this year's lineup.

OMG! The Strokes!!! Spoon!!! Vampire Weekend!!! I am so excited that I can't go on.

3) Rev-up for Ren Fest!

And last but certainly not least, we also missed Ren Fest last year because it was so soon after the wedding and we were broke as a joke. But not this year. This year we are getting ready for it early, we may actually dress up, and will definitely be with Flag. =) WOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!

Here we go 2nd half of 2010! Coming at cha strong! LOOK OUT!

Reminds Me of Dad - The Best Song Ever

I heard this song awhile ago and it is totally amazing. In my opinion, it embodies the joy of music and life... and it just makes me happy. I absolutely love this song!

This is "People are Crazy". I definitely am, God is SUPER great and beer is totally good.

Enjoy this awesomeness and pass it around because the message is SO true and should be enjoyed by EVERYONE.

Garza Live Recording

I saw that David Garza would be in town for an ACL live recording. He was going to be at KLRU covering his new album and I couldn't resist putting it on my calendar. Jonathan introduced me to the amaziness that is David Garza and I've been in love (musically) ever since. And so it was- I wanted to surprise Jonathan.

I got Jon down there keeping it a secret but eventually had to tell him because there was no chance I would have found it. Once walking, it was like a scavenger hunt and there were all these different signs telling us where to go but it was a hunt to find them. We arrived at the door at 7:10- it looked like we had missed the tour down and might be out of luck because they couldn't guarantee entry after 7pm.

There were two other girls there when we ran up to the door that should have led us down to the studio. We were all pretty bummed and I suggested waiting around for a moment just in case someone came back to lead some other people down. Then I thought we should try some other floors to see if we could find it on our own. I told them I would go searching with one other person and two could stay and wait just in case the door was opened. One girl volunteered, I kissed Jon, and off we went.

(Another station's door. It was also locked.)

(Don't know if we should have been there.)

We tried the two lower floors to no avail. It was kind of creepy and it definitely felt like we shouldn't have been down there. I took some quick shots of the radio station and on-air signs and we tried to open every door to find the studio. All the doors were locked and there was no one around except one person on each floor. We asked both if they knew where the concert was and neither knew but the last told us to check the 6th floor...

She was right. We ran off the elevator and were greeted by the sweet sounds of David. We both jumped with joy and the other girl darted across the room trying to find the right door to gain entry. I told her we should go get the others and she just ran in. I ran back to get Jon and almost couldn't contain myself in the elevator down. When I ran out and told him to tell the other girl we had found it, he said she had left. Apparently the two girls weren't friends and the other girl DEFINITELY wasn't a David Garza fan. No David Garza fan would have left that building unless they had been forced to do so.

Jon and I ran back to the elevator and headed for the 6th floor. Once we got to the big stage door, I held my breath as I pulled and then we both sighed and smiled and jumped in the air with excitement- the door was unlocked.

(David Garza - live at KLRU - 4/8/09)

We crept in and stood there in awe. It was amazing! We finally saw some seats and were actually allowed to walk up and sit down to witness David and his awesome band from the view shown above. It was an absolute pleasure to see him on the tiny stage and from such a great view.

Amaziness, fantabulousness, and pure genius. David Garza was incredible, as usual.

Professor Shark!

Jon, Jer, and I went downtown to see Professor Shark. Joe (the drummer) is a pal of Jon's so we wanted to check them out. They play at 10pm every Thursday at Six Lounge. GO SEE THEM.

All I can say is FABULOUS. They are ROCKIN'! I even asked if they'd play at our wedding (and I'd seriously love it if the price isn't too out of control). I didn't take my camera and regretted pretty much every second of it. At least I had something. Thanks phone.

(The Frost Building from the patio of Six Lounge. If you look closely, you can see Jon & Jer's heads.)

Go party with Professor Shark at Six Lounge every Thursday at 10pm and check out their MySpace page here. They write and play their own songs and also cover some pretty bad ass artists.

And a super great view from Six Lounge. Flippin' awesome!!! Gotta love this world and the joy it brings.

MAMMA MIA AMAZINGNESS

GO SEE MAMMA MIA.

It is so so so so so GOOD! Yes- it is a little 'girly' and a slightly bit cheesy with Pierce Brosnan trying to look natural while singing, but it's an incredible story. I haven't been fortunate enough to see it on Broadway, but the movie made my heart melt... it's still melting.

And now... I am obsessed with the soundtrack! I mean, OBSESSED!

I haven't been able to get it yet, but I think Jon may get it for Christmas. WOOOO HOOOO. So, in the meantime, I am 'youtubing' them and will play them over and over again until Jonathan turns blue.

Yep. Here's for your listening pleasure.

HONEY HONEY

MONEY MONEY MONEY

MAMMA MIA

LAY ALL YOUR LOVE ON ME

TAKE A CHANCE ON ME

I DO I DO I DO I DO I DO

I HAVE A DREAM

THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC

I'm in love... forever humming. I wonder if my throat will get sore. I normally hum and whistle, but no like this. Hehe. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

ACL Awesomeness x 3

ACL 2008 - Day 3

Okay, by Sunday I was pretty darn beat. My butt, back, and head felt like I'd been hit by some type of large motor vehicle. My ankles felt like they were going to break, my feet felt like they were going to explode, my nose was raw from blowing black boogers, and I was ready to party!

ACL is a very special thing; the music, the people, the party. It's a life celebration for music lovers and it is something everyone should experience... dust and all.

Yep, dust. And lots of it. We didn't get enough rain this year and we need it badly, especially since we missed all the rain from Hurricane Ike. With the lack of rain and major walking going on, the ground stayed dusty and was pretty miserable by Sunday afternoon. However, we sucked it up and partied; dust cant stop Austinites and music lovers combined!!

Our Sunday lineup: Flyleaf, Against Me!, Colour Revolt, Okkervil River, The Raconteurs, & Tegan and Sara. No words- just pictures.

(Fly Leaf rockin' out) (Against Me! Awesomeness)

(Caught) (A fantabulous flag if I do say so myself)

(Good times with good people) (Relaxing in the shade with Colour Revolt)

(Okkervil River doin' their thang)

(The Raconteurs jammed out)

(Tegan and Sara- so cute!)
(ACL after dark... superb)

***Bye bye ACL- see you in 363 days!!!***

ACL Awesomeness x 2

ACL 2008 - Day 2:

Oh my. What a day. A totally amazing day!

We got to the park a bit earlier than Friday and were stoked to begin another music filled day. We walked through the gates, showed our wristbands, and walked right into The Fratellis' jam session. We joined the upbeat crowd; smiling, singing, dancing, cheering, drinking, enjoying... awesome. Live music, a badass city, and amazing people having the time of their lives- ya just can't beat it!

Our
flippin' fantabulous Saturday lineup included The Fratellis, Man Man, Les Freres Guisse, MGMT, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, and Beck!

Some of the guys and gals were new to me and some have been long time loves- they all rocked out and were the reason I had one hell of a good time!

Pictures below... there were so many awesome shots of such an awesome night! Some of my fave faves are shown below.

(The Fratellis) (Pumped up at Man Man)

ACL Awesomeness

ACL 2008 - Day 1:

The weekend FINALLY came... and it was Austin City Limits Music Festival amazingness. OMG!!! What a fantabulously amazing Friday we had! The bands were amazing, the cloud coverage totally rocked, and the company was superb.

It was Jon and my first time to go all three days. Last year was our first time to experience ACL but we only went on Sunday; it definitely wasn't long enough and we knew we had to come all three days this year.

Weather wise, this year was much nicer than last. It was over a hundred degrees and ridiculously humid last year! This year, it was hot but definitely do-able. Although, it did get a bit hotter each day; Friday was overcast and somewhat cool, we had brief moments of relief with some cloud coverage on Saturday, but Sunday was just plain hot- not a cloud in the sky and one brutal sun.

Despite a hot Sunday, the weekend was flippin' fantabulous. Friday was a SUPERB start to an excellent weekend of live music awesomeness. We made our rounds and enjoyed the sounds of the following bands: Vampire Weekend, Del tha Funky Homosapien, Gogol Bordello, Hot Chip, David Byrne, and Mars Volta. Crazy awesome.

Some of my favorite shots are shown below.... Bands, crowds, friends, smiles, and a bit of Austin history..

(Vampire Weekend incredible-ness) (Gogol Bordello going wild)
(Groovin' to tha music) (Walking to Hot Chip- Fans a flappin')
(The awesome David Byrne and some awesome folks enjoying his awesome music)

(ACL 2008 Friday Sunset) (The ACL Ball in all its' awesomeness)

(Mars Volta rockin' it out)
