My ALL TIME Favorite People
If you haven't already seen or heard about the "Rapist in Lincoln Park", you need to! This was a real attack where the victim's brother rushed in and saved her. I love the guy, Antoine Dodson for all he did and for the video afterwards. He saved his sister's life and then threatened the attacker on the news video; while a very serious topic, the footage of his interview is awesomely hilarious. Rock on, Antoine, rock on!
He is AWESOME and I LOVE him. I also can't get enough of the dudes that made the follow up remix version as a song; Auto-Tune the News made the song and video and it is AMAZING. The profits go to both Antoine Dodson and Auto-Tune the News, so check them out! They are an absolutely amazing compilation. The videos are shown below. I HIGHLY recommend watching the first one first; it is the original news footage from the attack. Watch it first so you can see the awesomeness that is the actual footage and will then truly understand the awesomeness that is the remix version.

Tree Frogs Galore!
1st sighting of the tree froggies
I have seen all kinds of toads and frogs who, in the past, have taken over our garden area with their underground cubbies. But I have never seen a tree frog around here until I brought 10 potted plants back from my father's house (where I caught the 30 tree frogs as a child.)
2nd sighting of the tree froggies
Now, we keep seeing these little guys every now and then; I think they are the same little frogs and think they were chillin' on some of the plants I brought from Dad's. I am happy to have them here but really hope I didn't take them away from their family. :(Here's to the frogs! I hope they make a happy home here. :)

Sleepy Sentences
'Sleepy Sentences' is a new series that I will contribute to as frequently as they occur. These are real sentences that come to me when I am working long hard Master's hours... as I am writing, if I am ridiculously tired, sometimes I find myself dozing while I am still typing. Occasionally, I awake to find that I have typed some random, ridiculous sentence. As I am falling asleep I start to dream and continue writing. I have done it several times and they are always really crazy.
Here is the latest and by far the weirdest. I really have no idea what I was dreaming but I think the inspiration came from Sex and the City... although it is more like Sex and the City gone wacko. (I just watched the series in its entirety in prep for the movies. Yay!)
"As for the latest fling, I have learned that the city of New York also doesn't have any clean napkins. What are we? Where are we going?"
Yep. No idea.
The funny (and utterly ridiculous) thing about this Sleepy Sentence is that I actually posted it. Yep. I posted THAT sentence as the last sentence on a Research and Statistics discussion question. I had to make a correction obviously, but I have vowed to post earlier from now on... before I fall asleep and forget to delete Sleepy Sentences. =)
I do hope they still occur though so I can share with the world the creepy depths of my twisted little mind. I just gotta watch out for the posting...

Absolutely In-Sync
And to prove this point downright, our recent test scores showed this in a freaky way. We took the first final in our Master's program last night. It was a timed exam and was pretty darn intensive. We're in the same class but weren't even able to help each other as we had to focus on our own. The tests given are different so there's no way to be dishonest. Good thing because we made the exact same score!!!! I don't know how the heck that happens but I am glad we weren't "able" to cheat because if it had been possible, no one would have ever believed we didn't copy each other.
We are just on the same level and this proved in a freakish way. Hehe. We had our backs hunched and turned opposite from each other (as this is how our desks are positioned) and we went at it for 3 hours without really saying a word to the other. And then... the same score...
FREAKY!

Cinna-strength
Jon was enjoying his cinnamon bun when he decided he wanted to use a fork.
The fork wasn't up to the challenge.
Strooooooong cinnamon bun. Baaaaaaad cinnamon bun!
Clumsy is my Name
1st cube at my awesome place of employment:
I spilled an entire vase of oil (from an oil diffuser) all over my cube wall. Seeing that the walls are cloth, one can only imagine how long the scent lasted.
Later, I brought a candle burner to work. They don't get very hot but I didn't know at the time that the wax had a tendency to bubble up. Once, I tried to fix it before it exploded... yeah... don't try that.
2nd cube at my still awesome place of employment:
Rewind and replay the above cube catastrophe when I moved to my second cube. Oil, wax, yeah...
3rd cube at my forever awesome place of employment:
I've flooded my plant pots several times. One day, I spilled my drink three different times. And just last week, I spilled my cup of oatmeal on my desk, floor, and hand. A lovely lady gave me some mustard to sooth the oatmeal burn- it worked.
This week in the kitchen at my awesome place of employment:
I broke the coffee maker... temporarily. See what happened was, I went into the kitchen and the 3rd burner had one pot with a sip left in it. I grrrred, made a "no one made fresh coffee as usual" cringe, and pulled out a filter to make another pot. The pot wasn't counting down so I grabbed the filter bin and dumped it in the trash. At the very moment that I was turning around, I heard the dreaded sound of water pouring on the burner. I grabbed a million paper towels (go green!) and started cleaning up the spill. Then, I tried to start the machine but it wouldn't turn on. At this point, I frantically started pushing buttons and pulling out cords when one of my distinguished colleagues walked in to my guilty face. He was, in fact, coming to get a cup of coffee and he had, in fact, been the one to start it in the first place!
The colleague gave me a look of panic and started trying to fix it. To my relief he actually seemed to know what he was doing. I kept apologizing and he kept trying to fix it. He started joking with me as I joked with myself. Well, I try and remember it as joking. In reality, if I had broken that coffee maker, the entire office would have been something other than happy with me and I would have been pissed off at myself- I wanted coffee too! I usually get in and wait about 30 minutes for my coffee, so when I'm ready, I'm really ready.
In the end, the wonderful colleague figured it out- it took him a couple of tries and a couple of times we thought it just wasn't going to happen. Then, all of sudden, ta-da! I seriously jumped for joy and told him I was forever in his debt. He told me to just never touch the coffee maker again.
Haha. Done!
The Cube Wall
And so it began.
('Cubes Between Cubes' by Amy)
We tried several times to stack the cubes but because they are my first ones and haven't been made totally proportional, it wasn't the easiest trick to master. However, Daniel did rise to meet that challenge (just like I'll rise to meet mine).
(Cube Tower - stacked by Daniel)
I love making the little squares and it gives me something to do while on the phone. I will definitely finish the wall and I will be the champion. Plus, my cube will rock it!
I ran across this amazing Fantasma Foam while looking for another foam substance and now, it's my absolute favorite! I found it at Terra Toys and it's AMAZING! It's a mix between silly putty and foam. You can store it and it will stay moist or you can make something and let it dry-once dry, it has the feeling of velvet.
Yay! Fantasma Foam!

Slow Car, Fast Car
Jon and I always have the most interesting dining experiences and today was no exception. We decided to head over to our favorite little french cafe, La Madeline. (I can't get enough of that place!) We had just settled in and I was beginning the awesomeness that is their Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich when we noticed a car pulling into the spot right in front of our window. Normally, cars pulling into parking spots aren't all that exciting. Today, it was.
This Jeep pulls in the spot and is smack dab in the middle of two spots. So, the driver precedes to pull out and try it again. In the meantime, I'm wondering if there is anyone trying to get by the Jeep because it took the driver a solid half a second to put the car in reverse and slowly creep into the spot about an inch from where they were originally. By now, Jon and I are giggling a bit.
Since the Jeep is still occupying two full spots at this point, they decided to give it one more shot; just like before, the driver reverses like a turtle, sits there a second, and then finally pulls back in the spot slower than before. At this point, I just wanna see who the hell was driving this flippin' Jeep! It turned out to be a young woman- this young woman took an entire minute to pull into a parking spot with no surrounding cars.
Incredible. And hilarious. But wait, there's more!
Right after the Jeep's passengers walk into the restaurant, another car pulls up and backs into the spot directly next to Jeep. And all in about 5 seconds.
Incredible. Slow car, fast car- a little humor from God on a less than perfect day. Gotta love Him.

Quote of the day - It's Flippin' Hot!!!!
I was cold when we got up but eventually warmed to my usual temperature- HOT! Well, Jon's usual temperature is FREEZING so it doesn't work all that well. Ha.
While deciding on the house temperature, I told Jon that he could feel the layer of sweat under my arms (if he didn't believe me) and he said I could feel his goosebumps.
Frikin' hilarious.

Googles & Roundhouses & Chucks, Oh My!
I went to Google something today (go figure) and wound up almost peeing my pants.
The search for Play Foam continues and I wanted to Google 'find Play Foam' but didn't get that far before I had to stop and take a screen shot... and a couple of breaths.
