Update: Dad's Life Motto

"Never let a day go by that you don't have fun."

AND

"Party, party, party."

I wanted to update my wonderful father's awesome life motto because it is definitely something he lives by each and everyday and is so ingrained in my head that I will always be a fun loving fool.

Please, read and heed! Enjoy life; what the hell else is it for?

Oh Yeah?

Jefferson was sitting on one of his favorite things just minding his own business...

Then, Ran got up from his chair and laid on the bag to see how Jefferson would feel about his spot being stolen.

Jefferson got up, circled around, and jumped right up on Ran's chair.

He showed Ran.

I Outta Be Ashamed

My little Jefferson has not been mentioned on my blog! What the heck is wrong with me??? I started with Peaches (because we had just gotten her). Then I posted on Shadow. And then, I must have gotten side tracked because I totally forgot Jefferson!

Jefferson is our little Tiger- he was our second cat and we got him because we really thought Shadow needed a good friend. (I've had Shadow since I was 13 and he's been a lone cat as long as I've had him.) Jefferson was a Craig's List baby; we looked for kittens for months and I usually only looked at the ones with pictures- I figured it would take some of the guess out of it. One day, I decided to look at a post about 2 orange kittens and it didn't have a picture. Jon said he'd like an orange one and I just thought that was the cutest thing.

We called the woman and set up a time to meet. Jonathan immediately bonded with one of cats when we finally got in front of them and started interacting. They were adorable and they looked exactly alike. I tried to interact with both of them as much as possible, but after a few minutes it was apparent that Jon was in love. I loved them both the same and so it was decided- we took Jon's first choice home.

Jefferson Sidney

We named him Jefferson Sidney because we brought him home on July 4th, 2007- Jefferson because it was in fact Independence Day and Sidney after my wonderful Grandfather whose birthday was July 4th.

He bonded with us quickly. He loved to lay over our shoulders and would stay curled up in my lap for hours! He bonded with Shadow quickly as well. I think Shadow was excited and then quite shocked that the little guy didn't leave- it took Shadow a full day and then they were the BEST of buds and have been ever since.

Jefferson will be 2 years old on may 12th. As he's grown, he's fallen in love with Television, boxes, and chairs.

TV - First week home.

Boxes - His next obsession.

Chairs - His all time favorite.

What a doll. And that's our Jefferson.

I Just Overdosed on Allergy Medicine

Yep. Now, I can't have a drink while enjoying the awesomeness that is SXSW. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

See what happened was... I woke up with one of the worst headaches I've ever head in my entire life. I tried to sleep it off to no avail, so I grabbed some meds and went back to sleep. The Fed Ex guy woke me up at some point and my head was still pounding so I laid on the couch and tried to keep my head in a comfortable position. That wasn't very easy- I couldn't turn my head either way because the pain would come exploding back. Later, I woke up starving and forced myself to get something to eat while still suffering through the pain. In total, I waited about 4 hours and then took a couple more pills.

When Jon got home, I told him the medicine sucked and that we would never buy it again. That's when he told me that it wasn't headache medicine- it was allergy medicine. He put his Zyrtec in the Aspirin bottle and apparently told me once before. Well, I don't have any memory of that and I really thought they were the real thing. So, 5 Zyrtec later... I can't drink at the shows, could possibly feel some side effects, and could possibly damage my liver and kidneys.

Great.

The Search for Floam Begins...

I give up. I'm going to break down and buy the infamous Floam.

Recently, I developed an obsession for this insanely amazing stuff; a friend gave me a piece of this awesome concoction but didn't know where it had been purchased. The search began. Unfortunately, I soon discovered that the awesomeness that was Floam had been recalled several years before. I did some more research and they must have made some changes because it's available for purchase again. However, it's only available online...

After countless disappointments, I found a mock version online and embarked on a tiring hunt for PlayFoam. Well, the search has ended because I FINALLY found it! I owe Joann Fabric Craft Store a HUGE thanks for being the only place that had it (out of the 7 I went to). Hip hip hooray for Joann's!

PlayFoam is awesome and is definitely a must buy for any parent! Kids and adults will both have a blast! Get rid of the mindless video games and force the use of imagination! (It's good for 'em.)

Play Foam:
  • NON-TOXIC
  • NON-ALLERGENIC
  • Contains no gluten, proteins, organic materials or other allergens
  • Contains no phthalates
  • Contains no latex
  • Conforms to ASTM D 4236
  • Contains no hazardous or toxic substances
However, I'm still in need of the original. I like Floam a smidgen bit better (the newer, non-toxic version). It's got more of the gooey stuff that holds it together so it's a bit more malleable; it's easier to squish in your hands and seems easier to mold. I say 'seems' because I've only held a small amount and it couldn't have done it justice.

I need Floam!!!!

Celebration for All!

Budweiser stole my Shamrock antlers... He had a good time.

Go Green! An Eco-friendly & Economic Way to Move- 41pounds.org

I wanted to include this GO GREEN reminder on such a very green day. Please take some time to read this information (originally posted by41pounds.org) and add their blog to your blog roll. Please help save your world!
____________________________________________________________________

If you are on the move to a new home, a new job, a new life, check out Box Quest, a company that helps you to find and buy used moving boxes and packing supplies in your local community. Some people sell their boxes for cheap and some give them away for free.

You might also want to check out Freecycle, a network of regional email lists through which individuals give away stuff, including moving boxes and just about any other thing you could possibly need. Each of these web sites allows you to search by locale, so you can find your recycled boxes as close to home as possible.

Once you’ve moved and unpacked, you can use these sites to sell or give away your boxes to other folks. Keep the cycle going and keep the trees in our forests!

Please check out Box Quest and Freecycle- they're AWESOME! And please go visit 41pounds.org and their blog.

One last thing? Tell everyone you know.

Wedding Day Anxiety

Oh my...

I am getting nervous. Real nervous.

I'm not nervous about getting married- I cant flippin' wait! I am freaking out about the planning process and how it will pan out the day of.

I know, I know- me, me , me. But, I haven't been a self-obsessed pain in the butt... yet. I'm just starting to realize that our wedding is real and that very soon, I'll be a married woman who just attended the wedding of her dreams (or so I pray).

So awesome.

But getting the wedding of your dreams isn't as easy as people think. It's stressful because you want everything to go so perfect and you only get one try (or at least, you should).

Fingers crossed, we embark on the second journey... catering and dresses and flowers, oh my...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone. =)

Go out and have the best dang time. I know I'm gonna.

Slow Car, Fast Car

Gotta love the humor that life throws you when you really need it.

Jon and I always have the most interesting dining experiences and today was no exception. We decided to head over to our favorite little french cafe, La Madeline. (I can't get enough of that place!) We had just settled in and I was beginning the awesomeness that is their Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich when we noticed a car pulling into the spot right in front of our window. Normally, cars pulling into parking spots aren't all that exciting. Today, it was.

This Jeep pulls in the spot and is smack dab in the middle of two spots. So, the driver precedes to pull out and try it again. In the meantime, I'm wondering if there is anyone trying to get by the Jeep because it took the driver a solid half a second to put the car in reverse and slowly creep into the spot about an inch from where they were originally. By now, Jon and I are giggling a bit.

Since the Jeep is still occupying two full spots at this point, they decided to give it one more shot; just like before, the driver reverses like a turtle, sits there a second, and then finally pulls back in the spot slower than before. At this point, I just wanna see who the hell was driving this flippin' Jeep! It turned out to be a young woman- this young woman took an entire minute to pull into a parking spot with no surrounding cars.

Incredible. And hilarious. But wait, there's more!

Right after the Jeep's passengers walk into the restaurant, another car pulls up and backs into the spot directly next to Jeep. And all in about 5 seconds.

(Left: Slow Car - Right: Fast Car)

Incredible. Slow car, fast car- a little humor from God on a less than perfect day. Gotta love Him.

Update: Changing Label Title to Include More

I've changed the label, Save the Earth.

I originally entitled the series after a club I started when I was in middle school; my best friend and I started a club to save the earth and I wanted to continue it by helping to spread the word on important issues- big or small.

However, I recently realized the label didn't necessarily encompass all that I wanted to post about. I've relabeled all posts formerly called "Save the Earth" and the series will continue as SAVE THE WORLD.

It seemed appropriate since I want to include both social and animal issues as well as environmental matters.

Please let me know if there's something you'd like me to include to help spread the word even farther. =)

Quote of the day - It's Flippin' Hot!!!!

Jon and I just woke up and treated ourselves to some yummy Mickey D's (I know, I know).

I was cold when we got up but eventually warmed to my usual temperature- HOT! Well, Jon's usual temperature is FREEZING so it doesn't work all that well. Ha.

While deciding on the house temperature, I told Jon that he could feel the layer of sweat under my arms (if he didn't believe me) and he said I could feel his goosebumps.

Frikin' hilarious.

My Mom Is Here!!!!!

We've been having a blast; doing things here and there and being lazy lots in between.

It's so nice to have her here but the time is going waaaaaaay too fast. Boo.

Also, she brought her Shingles pictures and I will definitely be posting them. If you haven't already told everyone you know about the horrible-ness that is Shingles, you WILL after you see these pictures.

Everyone, have the best weekend! I know I will. =)

The Yumminess that Is Mimi's Cafe

We've eaten at Mimi's Cafe several times now. It's right down the road but it took us forever to try it. Once we did, we knew we were in love.

After being told on Valentine's Day that we'd have to wait 2 hours at our first choice, we went to Mimi's a second time and were taken to a romantic, cozy table as we walked in- we'll never snub Mimi's of our first pick again!

One evening I was watching the Food Network and guess what restaurant they were talking about! Yep, Mimi's! They were showing their famous grilled cheese sandwich that is apparently the most incredible grilled cheese ever.

Of course, we had to try it. We went at the first opportune moment and searched the menu... the grilled cheese was no where to be found. My heart skipped a beat and I started to feel dizzy when the waitress walked up and I was able to ask her about the deliciousness that is Mimi's grilled cheese.

"It's on the lunch menu but we can make it anytime," she said with a smile.

It is the most incredible grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. I took a picture because it was so amazing- it's the crappiest quality but no picture could do it justice anyway.

I had to get a burger as well- I got the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of fruit. Oh my goodness gracious! I'm still drooling.

Again, I apologize for the crappy quality but trust me, that burger was a beautiful site. You can sub a side of fruit for 50 cents and it's absolutely incredible! (I've been to some uppity places that charge several dollars for 2 strawberries and a handful of pineapple.)

I recommend Mimi's Cafe. It's our new favorite place.

=)
